Student, Tanner Mack working his 13.D project!
Have you ever dreamed of traveling the World to Rock Climb? How about doing that as part of your High School curriculum? Well, for a small group of avid young climbers, that’s a reality…and our friend Robin Hill is guiding them along the way, both in the classroom and on the cliff walls.
The program making this possible for the students is called The Climbing Academy, and it’s a lot more than just a climbing school. Students are on a grueling schedule from dawn to dark, taking a full college prep class load every day before getting out to climb. Given the demanding routine, Robin brought Voke along this semester to help the team get through the long days.
My mentees and I! TCA focuses on close mentorship between students and staff! My mentees get free advice and free voke tabs 😉
“Quick Voke update from Spain. Voke is truly fueling our our dynamic adventure. Here are a couple sentiments from teachers and those of the students. They are so fired up on Voke, I’m worried I am going to run out, ha ha.”
With our crazy schedule, action packed with morning yoga, touring local museums, 6 hour of class, and full afternoons of high intensity rock climbing, our students need to stay on it to take full advantage of our program.
In the past, we have been challenged to maintain momentum throughout our two hour block periods. No teacher in their right mind would fuel their students with coffee. The crazy ups and downs would wreck the focus and consistency needed to maintain an engaged classroom. Voke is a completely different story. It allow students who are struggling to regain their focus in a gentle, sustained way…without leaving them wired and crashing later.
We do a one on one off schedule with a full climbing day, followed by a full school day. We go full intensity on both, as can be seen by this intensive Algebra 1 class.
A couple comments from students:
“Voke is so rad when we are going to the crag after a long school day. Sometime’s its hard to get stoked to climb when you’re low on energy. A quick voke tab in the van, and that stoke is back!!”
“It’s interesting, sometimes I don’t even notice the effect of Voke Tabs, because I’m so engaged doing whatever it is I’m doing. That’s why I think it is so great! It’s not a caffeine buzz that distracts you from what you’re doing, it just helps you do whatever you’re doing well.”
“You know that stupid head bob you get when you just can’t stay awake no matter how hard you try. Voke nips that right in the butt!”
